Last year, I discovered the game Guild Ball by Steamforged Games, and since then, it has become the center of my gaming time. I’m slowly painting the models, pushing them a bit more than I would usually do for play pieces, as the game requires only 6.
Here is my Butcher Guild starter. I chose to use only a little bit of red compared to the official scheme, only painting a single accessory in that colour per model, and blood effect, of course!
L’an dernier, j’ai découvert le jeu Guild Ball, par Steamforged Games, et depuis, c’est devenu le centre de mon temps de jeu. Je travaille lentement sur mes figurines, en les poussant pas mal pour des modèles de jeu, car il n’en faut que 6 pour jouer.
Voici mon starter pour la guilde des bouchers. J’ai décidé de n’utiliser que très peu de rouge comparativement au schéma officiel, en ne mettant qu’un accessoire de cette couleur par modèle, et un peu de sang, bien sûr.
Last March, I had the pleasure of painting the M4 buildings demo kit for the project MC Studio launched on Kickstarter. The laser cut cardboard buildings are well designed, surprisingly sturdy, and fun to paint. Once the project was over (successfully, I must add), I discussed with the laser man about future project and the first thing that came was doing a tutorial for the painting of the official scheme. Life sadly took its toll on my free time in the following months, but finally, here is that tutorial.
So here are the steps to paint the M4 buildings like the ones in the initial demo kit.
Small note: this guide is only an example, and you can paint those a multitude of other ways, like using spraycans or large brushes, using different colour schemes, or add a lot more weathering. The building are yours.
Au mois de mars dernier, j’ai eu le plaisir de peindre le kit de bâtiments M4 de démonstration que MC Studio lançait sur Kickstarter. Les bâtiments en carton découpés au laser sont biens conçus, surprenamment solides, et agréables à peindre. Après la conclusion du projet (avec succès, il faut le dire), j’ai discuté plus avant avec l’homme au laser de potentiels projets futurs, et un élément qui est venu sur le sujet était de faire un tutoriel de peinture pour le schéma « officiel » des bâtiments. Entre temps, les projets, autant de peinture que dans mon “vrai” travail se sont bousculés sans arrêt, mais finalement, voici le tutoriel en question.
Voici donc les étapes suivies pour peindre les bâtiments de démonstration initiaux de la série M4.
Petite note: cette méthode n’est bien sûr qu’un exemple, et il est tout à fait possible de les peindre autrement, que ce soit au niveau du choix de couleur ou des techniques de peinture, en utilisant par exemple des bombes aérosol ou des pinceaux plutôt qu’un airbrush.

This week, I worked on a small conversion project for the birthday anniversary of Paul, my co-host on Geeks of the North, the hobby podcast we have been doing for almost a year now. Paul is a Circle Orboros player for Hordes, and his list has a wolf theme. During our last game, he mentioned that his list was a bit pillow fisted, and I suggested to add a Gorax to help circumvent that. However, that model doesn’t fit his theme, and he is not a fan of its look.
Cette semaine, j’ai travaillé sur un petit projet de conversion pour l’anniversaire de Paul, mon co-hôte sur Geeks of the North, le podcast de hobby que nous animons ensemble depuis bientôt un an. Paul est un joueur Circle Orboros pour Hordes, et sa liste possède un fort thème de loups. Lors de notre dernière partie, il avait cependant mentioné trouvé que la liste manquait un peu de punch, et j’avais suggéré l’ajout de Gorax pour remédier un peu à ce problème. Cependant, le modèle ne fonctionnait pas dans son thème, et il n’était simplement pas un fan de son look.
You’ve already seen the making of the base some weeks ago, but the model that goes on it is finally done. Here is Lylyth, Reckoning of Everblight, of of the warlocks from the Legion of Everblight faction for the game Hordes, by Privateer Press. It was a challenging model to paint, with all the filigrees and the differents textures.
